Minutes from Downtown San Jose, Willow Glen is located in the city's West central region. It is bordered by Campbell in the South West, Cambrian directly South, and highway 87 to its East. The Hamilton exit from highway 17 and Meridian exit from highway 280 are the most direct routes from which to enter Willow Glen.

Originally an independent town, Willow Glen became incorporated into the city of San Jose in 1937. Lincoln Avenue, bookended by Willow Street and Minnesota Avenue, has been the heart of WG's downtown since the early 1900's. Over 100 years later, "The Avenue" continues to reinvent itself with new restaurants, shops, and services.
